Last week you turned 6-years old (sorry this post is a week late). I can't even believe it has been 6 years since that frigid cold day when you were born. I am so proud of the boy you have become. You have grown up so much. I love you just the way you are.
I love how you have cowlicks in your hair when you wake up in the morning. I love that you want to button the top button of your shirts and wear a belt to school everyday. I love to watch you think and learn. You make a particular face when you are thinking that lets me know I need to be ready to answer the question that is about to come.
I love that you are passionate about most everything. Sometimes that intensity can be overwhelming but you have grown so much in learning to be calm...way to go! I love to watch you play with your toys (legos, army men, Star Wars action figures, Ninja Turtles, etc.). The stories you create while playing make me laugh.
I love picking you up from school each day and hearing about your highlight and lowlight of the day. I love that most often the low for the day is "there wasn't a low."
I love that when you get started laughing sometimes you just can't stop (even if it is during a prayer). Thank you for leading our prayers in family worship and for picking great hymns for us to sing. Have you noticed that you have been able to read some of the words in the hymnal lately? Joshua, you have learned to read!
I love your snaggle toothed smile. You are constantly wiggling other lose teeth hoping they will fall out too. I love that you are growing up but I often wish I could slow time down just a little bit.
Joshua you are a good friend to your friends. People like to be around you because you are fun and funny. You are a great big brother to your sister. You are quick to want to help and I have seen your servant's heart develop over the last year. You are a great teammate. You have no problem passing the ball to someone on your team so they can take the shot.
Everyday I am excited to be your mom. I am praying that God will continue to work in your heart and draw you closer to Him. I am praying that God will protect you and keep you safe. I am praying that as you grow up you will continue to want to serve others.
I love you Joshua. Happy Birthday!
Love,
Mom

Upward basketball started a couple weeks ago. #11, Joshua Nolen scored his teams only 4 points in the first game and was the high scorer for both teams! |
